The Dark Figure, also known as Xehanort's Guardian and The One Behind You, was a recurring character in the Kingdom Hearts series.

History

Kingdom Hearts

Xehanort's Guardian first appeared during Terra-Xehanort's boss fight against Aqua in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep until Master Xehanort tried to expel Terra to the realm of Darkness but failed.

The Guardian returned in Kingdom Hearts, where it aided Ansem the Seeker of Darkness in his battle against Sora, Donald and Goofy. Even becoming a part of the World of Chaos until it was destroyed.

The Guardian also made a cameo appearances in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts II, helping Riku defeat Roxas.

The Guardian would return in Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance, helping Ansem the Seeker of Darkness once again in a fight against Riku and would later reach out to Riku. He was also summoned again by Ansem to crush Riku and King Mickey but faded away after Donald and Goofy came to help.

In Kingdom Hearts III, Xehanort's Guardian came to save Aqua and Ventus against Terra-Xehanort and came to hold him say the phrase "I.. Will.. Set... Things... Right!", leaving to Sora to help free his body from Master Xehanort and so the Guardian turned back into Terra.

In Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, the Dark Figure was seen helping Ansem the Seeker of Darkness, fighting against Sora, Donald, Goofy, Roxas, Xion, Axel, Aqua, Terra, Ventus, Riku, Meow Wow and Komory Bat.

Trivia

• There was a fan theory that Xehanort's Guardian was either Terra or Eraqus, this turned out to be true for Terra.
• So far Xehanort's Guardian and Ansem the Seeker of Darkness are the only Heartless that can talk.
• Xehanort's Guardian is the only Heartless that is not an enemy type, nor can be hit.
