Tikal the Echidna was originally living in ancient times, often looking after the Chao and befriended Chaos, however after her father Panchacamac and the rest of the village went to take the Chaos Emerald for themselves, she tried to stop them, only to see Chaos be unleashed on the world in a rage. Because of this, she sealed both herself and Chaos inside the Master Emerald.
Tikal made her first appearance in Sonic Adventure, where she would often give advice and occasionally send Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Big the Cat and E-102 Gamma to the past to make them learn about Chaos after Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik setted him free. After Chaos was unleashed upon the world once again, Tikal appeared in front of Sonic, only to see him turn into Super Sonic and fight against Chaos, only to see Chaos turn back to normal, leading to both Tikal and Chaos to go back to where they came from.
Tikal is a playable character in Sonic Adventure 2, through the multiplayer option.
Tikal also appears in Sonic Advance and Sonic Advance 2, possibly to give advice to Sonic and his friends once again.
Tikal made a cameo appearance in Sonic Pinball Party.
In Sonic Rivals and Sonic Rivals 2, Tikal appears in a minigame.
Tikal was mentioned in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.
Tikal also made a cameo appearance in Sonic Generations, on some billboards.
Tikal also appears in Sonic Runners and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, possibly as a playable character.
