Sith are the main antagonists in the Star Wars series.

Star Wars[]
The Sith were originally a race of red-skinned force sensitives until a group of Dark Jedi came planet and met up with them. Over the years, the Dark Jedi and the Sith would study each others teachings, only to later become the Sith that exist today and will often fight against the Light Jedi. The Sith would later end up destroying each other, leaving one known as Darth Bane to create what it known as the Rule of Two; where only two Sith, being the master and the student to exist with the only exceptions being corrupted or Dark Jedi. Eventually a Sith known as Darth Plagueis went to discover immortality, only to be murdered by his student known as Darth Sidious.
The Sith made their first appearance in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, where Darth Sidious sent his apprentice known as Darth Maul to look for the two Jedi known as Qui Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, only to fail. Darth Maul later went to fight against the two Jedi once again, only to murder Qui Gon and was also in turn murdered by Obi-Wan.
The Sith also appeared in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, Darth Sidious went to look for another apprentice and so did with Count Dooku, giving him the name Darth Tyranus. Dooku later went to go through negotiations with the Confederacy of Independent Systems to create some Battle Droids. He later went to see Obi-Wan, Anakin Skywalker and Queen Padme Amadala fight against three beasts, only for Mace Windu to show up with a group of Jedi to help the three heroes and fight against the Battle Droids. Yoda and an army of Clone Troopers later went to fight against the Battle Droids. Dooku went to a hideout to fight against Obi-wan, Anakin and Yoda, only to leave and gave his master the plans to the Death Star.
Count Dooku went to fight against and recruit various warriors in the Clone Wars and Darth Sidious rarely went into battle.
The Side returned in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, where Count Dooku went to fight against Anakin and Obi-Wan once again, only to die by Anakin's hands. Darth Sidious later dent General Grievous to collect the Sepritist leaders and went to turn Anakin into a Sith. Darth Sidious later went to fight against Mace Windu and three other Jedi, murdering the three others and was nearly beaten by Windu until Anakin went to help him and turned him into Darth Vader. Sidious sent Vader to murder the Padawans and later went to eliminate the Sepritist Leaders and ordered the Clone Troopers to take down all of the Jedi. Vader later went to fight against Obi-Wan but lost and was slowly burning. Darth Sidious later went to recreate Darth Vader and went to create the Death Star.
Darth Sidious and Darth Vader went to look for any force user in the galaxy to either corrupt them into a Dark Acolyte or to eliminate them with the help of the Storm Troopers.
In Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Darth Vader went to look for Princess Leia Organa and so brought her to the Death Star in hopes to interrogate her. Vader later went to fight against Obi-Wan once again and so truly defeated him. Vader would later go off to fight against the Rebellion in his airship, only to be blasted away by Han Solo.
In Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader went to report the failure of his master, Darth Sidious. He later hired Bounty Hunters to help the Galactic Empire look for the Millennium Falcon's crew. Darth Vader later appeared in Cloud City to make an agreement with Lando Calorision and later gave Han to Boba Fett. Vader later fought against Luke Skywalker and told him that he was Luke's father. and later left after seeing Luke fall near to death but survived.
In Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, Darth Vader and Darth Sidious went to see how the construction of the new Death Star was going through. Vader would later appear to see Luke once again and brought him to meet his master, only to fight him until Sidious went to fight electrocute him. This caused Vader to betray Sidious and became a Jedi once again, effectively eliminating all Sith in the Galaxy.
In both the Legends and Disney Timelines, the Sith were secretly being recreated and tried to recreate the Galactic Empire, but mainly failed.
