Shadow the Hedgehog was created and possibly cloned by the scientist Professor Gerald Robotnik on the space station known as 'The Ark' as to be a friend to Meria Robotnik, only to go into stasis after Meria was shot by a Soldier due to a military takeover.
Shadow made his first appearance in Sonic Adventure 2, where he was awoken by Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik to help him with his plans. Shadow of cause, went to help Dr. Eggman and teamed up with Rouge the Bat to continue the plans that the now insane Gerald told him to do as well as fight off Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower and Knuckles the Echidna. After the plans was established, Amy Rose went to speak to Shadow witch made him remember what Meria really wanted him to do and so went to fight against the Biolizard and teamed up with Sonic to fight against the Biolizard once again, only this time it was infused with the Ark itself. After the battle, Shadow fell to Earth, believed to have died.
Shadow was possibly mentioned in Sonic Shuffle.
Dr. Eggman later found Shadow and used him create a clone army, only to later lock him up with E-123 Omega. In Sonic Heroes, Rouge became friends with both Shadow and Omega to fight against the Eggman Empire, mainly the Badniks under the control of Metal Sonic. Shadow also later went to help defeat Metal Sonic.
In Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow saw the Black Arms take over the Earth and so went to fight against Gaurdians of the United Nations, the Egg Pawn army or the Black Arms themself. Shadow later went to fight against Black Doom, the leader of the Black Arms and the one how helped Shadow be who he is today.
Shadow appears in Sonic Battle, where he would go off to into battle with Sonic.
Shadow also appears in Sonic Riders, where he his seen wanting to race on his hoverboard.
In Sonic 06, Shadow, along with Rouge and Omega were hired by GUN to see what Eggman was up too now and later went to help Sonic against Silver the Hedgehog. Both Shadow and Silver accidentally woke up a deity known as Mephiles the Dark and later went back in time to meet back up with Sonic. Shadow was later sent to the future by Mephiles to show what humanity would do to him, only for Shadow to reject what he claims and went to fight him, only to head back in time once again to see what Sonic is up to. Shadow later teamed up with Silver and Sonic to fight against Mephiles' true form, Solaris and defeated it, only for the timeline to reset, leaving to Sonic, Silver and Shadow to be the only ones to remember the events involving Solaris happened.
Shadow also appeared in Sonic Rivals and Sonic Rivals 2.
Shadow may appear in Sonic and the Secret Rings, possibly as an unlockable character.
Shadow also appears in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, as an unlockable racer.
In Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, Shadow went to help Sonic and his friends fight against the Nocturnus Clan.
Shadow was mentioned in Sonic Unleashed.
In Sonic and the Black Knight, a version of Shadow, known as Lancelot was sent to fight against Sonic, only to lose and would later help Sonic in his battles.
In Sonic Free Riders, Shadow and Rouge went to team up with Metal Sonic in disguise to race against Sonic as well as his friends and other rivals.
In the DS version of Sonic Colors, Shadow went to Dr. Eggman's amusement part to see what is going on as well as help Sonic in his quest to save the Wisp.
In Sonic Generations, Shadow went to invite Sonic in a Rival Battle for a Chaos Emerald. He later appeared to cheer for both Sonic and his younger counterpart.
Shadow also appears in Sonic Jump, Sonic Dash, Sonic Jump Fever, Sonic Runners, Sonic Runners Adventure and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, where he would race against others.
In Sonic Forces, Shadow went on a mission with Rouge and Omega, only to later fight against Infinite and later left. Shadow later appeared to fight against a Replica of himself and once again to fight against an army of Replicas with the rest of the teams.
In Sonic Team Racing, Shadow, Rouge and Omega went to race against Team Sonic, Amy Rose, Big the Cat, some Chao, Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic and Zavok in carts.
