Professor Gerald Robotnik was a father to two children, he also often liked spending time with his granddaughter, Maria Robotnik and the other being the parent of Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik. Both he and Maria later went to the Ark for his scientific knowledge and tried to create the ultimate life form known as the Biolizard. Afterwards he met Black Doom and was given his DNA to create the real Ultimate life form known as Shadow the Hedgehog. After Guardians of United Nations went to take over the Ark and murdered Maria, because of this, he tampered with Shadow's memories and went to create a program on the Ark to destroy the world, only to be captured, taped and later gunned down.
Professor Gerald Robotnik made his first appearance in Sonic Adventure 2, where video footage of him was seen warning the world that the Ark was going to crush down on the Earth due to how he felt about the GUN Soldiers that took Maria's life and invaded the station.
Professor Gerald Robotnik returned in Shadow the Hedgehog, where after Shadow collected the seven Chaos Emeralds and possibly saw multiple timelines unfold before him, another video footage appeared warning the world about the Black Arms invasion and how Shadow was created. This helped motivate Shadow to fight against Black Doom in each of their final forms.
