I'll probably be on this floating island forever, guarding the Master Emerald again. I may not know the whole story behind this, but perhaps it's better that way.

~ Knuckles, Sonic Adventure.
Knuckles the Echidna is a recurring protagonist in the Sonic seris.
Knuckles the Echinda was the last of tribe of Echidnas that gaurded the Master Emerald, a sorce of power and controller of the Chaos Emeralds. He was later approched by Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik who tricked him into helping him.
Knuckles may of had an adventure in Sonic 2.
He made his first appearance in Sonic 3, where he went to fight against Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower. Even going on his own adventure to see what was really going on.
In Sonic & Knuckles, Knuckles continued his adventure, only to find Dr. Robotnik trying to steal the Master Emerald and so went to fight against him and teamed up with both Sonic and Tails, only to clear the Badniks from his island.
Knuckles makes an appearance in Blue Shpear.
In Sonic Triple Trouble, it appears that Knuckles was under the employment of Dr. Robotnik once again to fight against Sonic and Tails with Fang the Sniper.
In Sonic Drift 2, Knuckles would race around in a car against his friends, foes and rivals.
In Knuckles' Chaotx, Knuckles team up with a group known as Team Chaotix with their members being, Vector the Croadile, Charmy Bee, Espio the Chamelion and Mighty the Armidillo to fight against Dr. Robotnik and his Badniks, he later left the team after defeating Metal Sonic.
Knuckles had a cameo appearance in Tails adventure, possable as a trophy.
In Sonic the Fighters, Knuckles entered a fighting tourniment due to him holding a Chaos Emerald.
Knuckles appears in both Sonic Blast and Sonic 3D Blast, where he would offer Sonic to enter a Special Stage.
In Sonic R, Knuckles went to race against Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, Dr. Robotnik, an Eggrobo, Metal Sonic, Mecha Knuckles and Tails Doll.
In Sonic Adventure, Knuckles noticed a being known as Chaos escaping the Master Emerald and later ran into Dr. Eggman, only to fight against Chaos. Knuckles later went on a hunt for the Master Emerald Shards, only to fight against both Sonic and Tails, only to later fight against Chaos once again and later went back to his quest up until he went on to the Egg Carrier and defeated Chaos one last time and left with the last three peaces of the Master Emerald as well as six Chaos Emeralds. Knuckles later saw Dr. Eggman laying in defeat, only to be attacked by Chaos and a bit later gave Sonic some of the Chaos Emeralds to defeat Chaos.
In Sonic Adventure 2, Knuckles was seen gaurding the Master Emerald from both Rouge the Bat and Dr. Eggman, only to shatter it. Knuckles went on another quest to gather the Master Emerald Shards and fight against the machines of G.U.N. until he joined up with Sonic, Tails and Amy. He then went to look for three keys for the group, only to later fight against King Boom Boo. Knuckles then went to the space colony ARK to look for more missing Master Emerald Peaces, only to fight against Rouge and with the Master Emerald peaces from her. Knuckles was also seen after Sonic found a way to teleport and presumably went back home.
Knuckles was also seen in Sonic Pocket Adventure, Shonic Shuffle and Sonic Pinball Party, helping Sonic and his friends in their quest.
In Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Adventure 3 and Sonic Battle, Knuckles went to fight against Dr. Eggman and his Badniks.
In Sonic Heroes, Knuckles was seen with Tails, heading to Sonic to give him a note and later went with the two to battle Eggman's Badniks and a robotic version of Dr. Eggman as well as fighting against Team Rose, members being Amy Rose, Cream the Rabbit and Big the Cat and a bit later against Team Dark, members being Shadow the Hedgehog, Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega. Knuckles was also seen fighting against Neo Metal Sonic and later went back to gaurd the Master Emerald afte Rouge mentioned it.
Knuckles also appears in Shadow the Hedgehog, where he would ask for Shadow's help fighting against the Egg Pawns and Black Arms.
Knuckles also appears in Sonic Rush.
In Sonic Riders, Knuckles went with Sonic and Tails race against the Babylon Rougues, with Knuckles having a rivalry with Storm the Albatrose.
In Sonic 06, Knuckles went to help Sonic in his adventures.
Knuckles appears in Sonic Rivals and Sonic Rivals 2, where he would race against Sonic, Shadow and Silver the Hedgehog.
In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, Knuckles went to race against the Babylon Rougues once again.
In Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, Knuckles went help Sonic and others fight against Nocturnus Clan.
In Sonic and the Black Knight, Knuckles appears as one of the Knights under the command of King Arthur.
Knuckles went to race against the Babylon Rougues once more in Sonic Free Riders.
Knuckles appears in the 3DS version of Sonic Colors, possably to help Sonic defeat Eggman.
In Sonic Generations, Knuckles went to celebrate Sonic's birthday, only to be taken away be the Time Eater. He was later freed by tho Sonic and Classic Sonic the Hedgehog, a bit later Knuckles went to cheer on both Sonics to defeat both Dr. Eggman and Classic Eggman. Knuckles then went back to the party, telling both Sonics that they were not bad, only for Amy to slam him into a tree.
Knuckles also appears in Sonic Lost World, with Army.
Knuckles also appears in Sonic Jump, Sonic Dash, Sonic Jump Fever, Sonic Runners, Sonic Runners Adventure and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle.
In Sonic Forces, Knuckles went to lead a rebellion after Dr. Eggman took over the world thanks to Infinite. He also showd the group the Rookie after seeing him in battle and would often have a convisation with Sonic, Young Sonic and the Rookie until Eggman was defeated once again.
In Sonic Team Racing, Knuckles was seen racing against various friends and foes in a car.

Knuckles the Echidna appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where he appears in the background in Green Hill Zone as well as a trophy and as a sticker to help the fighters in battle.
In both Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, appearing in Green Hill Zone again as well as a costume for the Miis and as one of the Assist Trophies to help the fighter that summoned him.
Knuckles also appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: World of Light, as an assist trophy once again to help the fighter that summoned him as well as a costume for the Miis as well and as a Spirit.
