Gandalf the Grey, later known as Gandalf the White is one of the main characters in the Lord of the Rings series.

History

The Lord of the Rings

Gandalf was training to become a wizard and later became known as Gandalf the Grey.

Gandalf first appeared in The Hobbit, where he decided to visit Bilbo Baggins, he later marked Bilbo's door then left. He returned a bit later to see the Dwarves and Bilbo Baggins again, where he went with them in the morning to go to the Dwarf montain so he could help them reclaim their land. He continued to help the Dwarves in a battle against the Orcs, however when recieved word from Radagast the Brown he left with him to find out that the dark lord Saran was returning. Gandalf later returned to the group of Dwarves to fight against the Dragon, Smaug. After the finghting was over, it is assumed that Gandalf went back to his fireworks buisniss.

In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Gandalf returned to the Shire, where he was met by Frodo Baggins. He went to Bilbo's birthday party and saw the One Ring witch was trying to currpt him but it failed. He later noticed Samwise Gamgee and brought him into the house asking if he was easdropping. He than went to Saruman, only to notice that he joined the side of the Orcs and fought against him, he later headed to the Elves and later saw both Bilbo, Frodo, Sam Merry Brandybuck and Pippin Took, only to later join what is now known as the Fellowship of the Ring with Gimli, Legolas, Aragorn II Elessar and Boromir. The group went to fight against the Nazgûl and Orcs, although Gandalf went to sacrofice himself to fight against the Balrog. Gandalf murdered the Balrog but was reborn.

In The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Gandalf returned as Gandalf the White, where he rejoined half of the Fellowship and so continued their travels. Gandalf later released Théoden from Gríma Wormtongue. Gandalf than went to try to ask the King for help against the Dark Lord and later went to fight Orcs to defend a castle.

In The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Gandalf was later seen talking to Treebeard, he later went with most of the Fellowship to head to the Kingdom of Gondar in hopes to ask them for some help against the Dark Lord. Gandalf went to fight against the Orcs once again and after the victory, he Gimli and Legolas thought of making a diversion and fight the ordor Orcs straight on and so did. After the Armies of Mordor fell, Gandalf went back to his adventures and later joined Frodo and Bilbo in one last journey.
