The Battle Droids where created by the Traid Federation as security.
They made there first appeared in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Mance, where they went to fight against Qui Gon Jinn and Obi-Won Kenobi, only to be destroyed. They were later used on Nabuu to imprison most of the Citizens, where some where destroyed by the Jedi. Both Qui Gon Jinn, Obi-Won Kenobi and some of the Residents of Nabuu went to fight against the Battle Droids until the Traid Federation left.
In Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, The Battle Droids were used by the Geonsions on Obi-Won Kenobi and later both Anakin Skywalker and Padame Amadala. Count Dooku later used the Battle Droids after Mace Windu and other Jedi went to free Obi-Won, Anakin and Padame, who later went to fight against the Clone Troopers.
The Battle Droids have been noted to fight in the clone wars, where they where winning the war in during the first years.
In Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, Some Droids were working under General Grievous, who went to fight against Obi-Won, Anakin and R2-D2. Battle Droids have been noted to constantly fight against the Clone Troppers up until Darth Sidious dicided to exicute order 66, where the Clones turned on the Jedi and possably continued their battles. Anakin also went to the hiding Traid Federation to murder them and shut down the remaining Battle Droids.
It is believed that almost all Battle Droids where destroyed in both off of the Legends and Disney timelines.
